Day 10 official research summary
Kakobuy's official return and exchange help page explains a 5-day return/exchange guarantee tied to seller after-sales rules on third-party platforms. The timing starts after the product is stocked in the Kakobuy warehouse, and 5 days equals 120 hours. Some products may have 7 to 10 days, but Kakobuy says the final refund period depends on the actual order situation.
This matters because spreadsheet buyers often wait too long. If the QC photos show the wrong size, wrong color, visible damage, missing accessories, or a product that is not worth the international shipping cost, the buyer should decide while the item is still in China and before the return window closes.
What the 5-day return and exchange rule means
Kakobuy describes the 5-day return/exchange guarantee as an after-sales service offered by sellers on third-party platforms. A product is eligible only when the seller offers guaranteed returns, the product remains in a re-salable condition required by the seller, and the item has been stocked in the warehouse for no more than 5 days.
The practical rule is simple: inspect QC photos immediately after warehouse stock-in. Do not wait until every item in the parcel has arrived. A return request submitted after the time expires may not be accepted, and Kakobuy says return or exchange can only be handled when the seller agrees.
Who pays return and exchange fees
Kakobuy separates personal-reason returns from seller or logistics fault. If the buyer simply does not want the product, bought the wrong product, bought an extra item, or decides international shipping is over budget, that is treated as a customer-side reason. The buyer may need to pay shipping back to the seller, shipping originally sent by the seller, and any return or exchange service fee after the free monthly allowance is used.
Kakobuy's help page says all users except Prime members are exempt from the service fee for the first return or exchange operation in each calendar month. After that, tiered service fees can apply. Seller-side responsibility examples include the seller shipping the wrong product, obvious quality issues such as holes or stains, or domestic transportation damage before warehouse receipt.
Products that are harder or impossible to return
The official help page lists several products that may be unavailable for after-sales service or subject to seller decision. Examples include custom-made products, products whose packaging, tags or accessories have been removed at the user's request, newspapers and periodicals, subscribed books and periodicals, second-hand products, products from outside mainland China, undergarments, adult products, food, large book quantities, and opened products that must meet special return-packing standards.
For buyers, this should affect the order decision before payment. Shoes, clothing with tags, accessories, sealed products, food, second-hand goods and seller-customized items should be treated differently. If the item only makes sense if it can be returned easily, confirm return eligibility before ordering.
How QC photos should drive the return decision
QC photos are not just a record for the buyer. They are the decision point for after-sales action. Compare the warehouse photos against the seller listing and the order options. Check color, size, quantity, model, visible stains, holes, damaged packaging, missing accessories, wrong version, and whether seller tags or anti-damage labels are still intact.
Kakobuy's inspection rules limit normal inspection to visible appearance checks such as model, style and size. Sealed packaging and many non-clothing, non-bag, non-suitcase, non-shoe products may not be opened. Electronics, digital products and other electronic products are not inspected for authenticity, function and quality. If the purchase depends on these hidden details, return eligibility becomes more important than a normal clothing order.
Warehouse storage is not the same as return time
Kakobuy's storage help page says normal purchasing and transshipment packages have a 100-day storage period starting from the in-storage status. It also says Kakobuy sends an email reminder after 90 days, and packages not submitted for waybill or not handled after more than 100 days can be treated as abandoned goods and destroyed. Abnormal packages are stored for 60 days from signed-for status.
Do not confuse this 100-day storage period with the return window. Storage gives you time to consolidate and ship. It does not guarantee that a seller will still accept a return after the 5-day after-sales window has passed.
Parcel receipt and damage reporting after international delivery
Kakobuy's receipt information page tells buyers to check whether the outer package is intact, whether the box sealing is intact, and whether there is a significant weight difference before signing. It says buyers should inspect goods in front of the courier before signing, write a note on the receipt or refuse the parcel if there is a problem.
If a package is damaged or missing after being signed without inspection in front of the delivery person, Kakobuy says the buyer should keep the outer packing box, including sealed tape, report it to the local post office within 2 days after signing according to the logistics provider's delivery time, provide physical photos and other information, and contact Kakobuy for compensation handling. The same page says abnormal packages should be reported to customer service within 72 hours after signing.
Day 10 return and receipt checklist
- Open QC photos immediately after the item is stocked in the warehouse.
- Submit return or exchange requests within the 5-day, 120-hour window when eligible.
- Confirm whether the seller offers guaranteed returns before assuming Kakobuy can return the item.
- Keep tags, packaging, accessories and anti-damage labels intact when return eligibility matters.
- Treat custom-made, second-hand, food, undergarment, adult, opened sealed, and outside-mainland-China products as higher after-sales risk.
- Separate customer-side reasons from seller-side or logistics-side faults before estimating fees.
- Do not treat 100-day warehouse storage as a 100-day return period.
- Inspect international parcels before signing whenever possible.
- For damaged or missing parcels, keep packaging evidence, report to the local post office within 2 days, and contact Kakobuy customer service within 72 hours.
